I was speaking with a neighbor who had been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I inquired about how her treatment was coming along. She indicated that it was not coming along yet, she was waiting for surgery first, and continued to express frustration from the whole process. She indicated after she received her diagnosis, she was handed a couple of pamphlets and told that she would be contacted next by surgery. She felt a sense of abandonment as she still had so many questions.

Increasingly, patients are seeking more information about their healthcare, especially when it is regarding an urgent matter. We live in a world of wanting to know more information, and when it comes to our health, we search anywhere to find it...including the dreaded internet. Personal Pathology Consulting was created by a pathologist to assist in the continuity of care of patients who have received a pathological diagnosis. It can be a scary situation not knowing what a pathology report means, therefore what better way to be informed than by a pathologist. Patients are able to discuss their pathology report with our pathologist and learn more about their specific diagnosis.
